If you have the luxury of time, you can often make minor composition corrections with multiple shots. It Is a legitimate shooting style that he uses well. Personally I rarely can do this since the shooting is usually of something that "happens only once". You have to rely upon your own abilities for a good capture...

The same skills apply to many types of photography.

I regret to say myself I’ve probably seen more ‘decisive moments’ when I didn’t have a camera with me than when I did. . .
