R7 Focus Stacking Issue
R7 Focus Stacking Issue
I finally did it, got my first R series body, R7, to update my 7D2. So far the vast majority of what I've seen is a definite improvement over the 7D2, especially the focusing speed and accuracy. I'm still using all my EF lenses via the control adapter have been impressed with the results. I got the kit with the 18-150 so I'd have a light weight walk-around lens and was surprised that it is almost as sharp in the center and midframe as my 24-70.
However, I found one issue that is really irritating. When using the built-in focus stacking you are forced to use electronic shutter which prevents the use of flash. Has anyone found a way around this to allow the use of flash with the built-in focus stacking? I called Canon and they admit they are getting a lot of requests from R series owners about this but don't know of any current plans for a firmware update to address it or even if it is being discussed so it appears a fix from Canon would be a long time away.
