Re: L mount to SA converter?

As a follow-up question, as the design construction of the new DN version of the lens on the sigma website is updated, do you reckon I would be losing much by opting for the older version? Does anyone have experience with both lenses?
I really appreciate any input you can provide. Cheers.
Some of the DG HSM lenses are still very new and relevant — the 40mm, 105mm, 28mm being the latest, and 70mm macro, and perhaps 135mm and 85mm just before them (see DPReview’s lens timeline).
The SLR Art lens designs are always optically-corrected whereas mirrourless versions sometimes are not.
The SLR Art lens designs are mechanically-focussing which can be an ergonomic advantage for certain use-cases.
Ostensibly, wide-angle mirrourless lenses gain the most in terms of performance and miniaturisation; telephoto lenses less so.
Remember that Sigma can convert SA lenses to L-mount and SLR-design L-mount lenses to SA-mount.
P.S. Short-flange lenses can be adapted to long-flange mounts, but only for close framing with no infinity and no electronic control (though Novoflex have electronic systems for reverse mounting macro etc). The only theoretical adaptor for L-mount to a shorter-flange would be to Nikon Z, but the user-base is insufficient to motivate this.
