Canon are sticklers about not wanting excess inventory. Every quarter their financial documents include camera inventory numbers.

The holiday season is a good time for "out with the old".

Been mulling getting a 3rd M6ii body all week long... your post finally triggered the realization that this probably really is the last chance to get a somewhat 'new' M6ii with the chance to swap it out if something is wrong... silver M6ii refurbs are out of stock already. So I pulled the trigger.

I also realized that the M200 I have can't serve as a replacement should one of the m6ii's die.... doesn't have 4k video at 30 fps with dual pixel AF, and no mike input! One of my few Black Friday purchases was a second mike (Sennheiser MKE 200) and 2 Smallrig cold shoe plates for the M6ii's.

With 3 M6 Mark ii's, a white full-spectrum M200, a black M200, the entire collection of EF-M Canon lenses, 5 3rd-party EF-M mount lenses, and probably the world's only (DIY) EF-M 2x teleconverter tailored for a custom modded EF-M 55-200, maybe I'll be the last man standing in this forum, to turn the lights off a few years from now LOL.

Wait !
I know these decisions are totally personal but I'd rather buy so many other things before a 3rd body.
For instance, the RP body cost about the same and you can pair it with the refurb RF-24-105 lens for $120 and the RF-50 refurb is $80 !. Remember, these are native mirrorless FF lenses and can use your EF lenses too.
Cancel that order LOL.

I was tempted by the RP for a microsecond due to its price, but I have studied the feature set of the camera thoroughly before.  Its 4k video is only 24 fps, not dual-pixel AF, and cropped (similar to the M200).  Also the RP can only do 5 fps compared to the M6ii's 14 fps, I do use that at times. The M6ii overall has a much richer feature set. With DxO PL6 ISO shooting up to ISO 10,000 and higher is no problem.

And although there are a few well-priced lenses for R, I'm happy with the lens set I've built up on M, and it would cost a small fortune to replace it all with R.  Only the R7 tempts me to move to R but the RF-S lenses aren't there and with 3rd party lenses locked out (at least for now) the pickins are slim.
