So, here's the question: has anyone considered selling their R5 (~$3k or a bit more with transferable warranty) and buying two bodies: a R7 for wildlife and R for landscapes.

While there’s little doubt that the R7 can eke out a bit more resolution than the R5, you also need to take the other differences into consideration as well.

Ask yourself what kind of conditions you might find yourself shooting in. The R5 has much better weather sealing than the R7. And also a sturdier build.

Is the R7’s (full) RAW buffer big enough? Does it clear fast enough? The R5 has a large advantage here.

Are you the kind of shooter who benefits from the silent shutter? How about when tracking BIFs? That’s one of the areas that eShutter really helps me. The R7’s rolling shutter can be a show stopper at times.

Check the other differences between the two (some are operational). Some are ergonomic. Some are limitations not found on a spec sheet.

Also, is there anything else that you shoot besides wildlife and landscapes? Can the R do as well as the R5?  Is the lens selection adequate (for the R7)? Is it outstanding?

So many things to consider besides that last few percentage points of reach.  You probably know what my own leanings are   .

Best of luck with your decision!
