I think your move to an R7 as sensible given you say you use the R5 in crop mode anyway. How about doing this in two stages which may save you money by coalescing into one.

Say you eBay or otherwise sell the R5. That leaves you a net net on eBay of what - $2,700? OK, buy the R7 new since used seems to be a pipe dream at this point. That leaves you $1,200 cash after the dust settles.

While that's your go to for other than landscapes, try it for landscapes as well. See if it works for you in that area before being convinced you'll need a FF replacement for the R5 for that subject matter.

It's a no lose situation. If the R7 works for you then you have $1,200 for whatever such as lenses or that RRS tripod you always wanted. Or scary as it may be - banking it. If you still see a need for the FF format, then I suggest wandering around through UsedLand where, aside from my R7, I've grown to enjoy. There, given time, you'll find your FF landscape body.

This is sound advice. I have discovered that Amazon has free returns by January 31 for items purchased now until Dec 25...so I have purchased an R7 to try out and help make this decision, with the understanding that I can return it in a month or so as long as I keep it in good condition. This helps me evaluate before selling the R5.

I have a three year transferable warranty on the R5 and I bought it refurbished for $3500 so I think I stand to be able to sell for around $3000, so not a large loss.

Thanks for helping me think it through.

You're welcome. I have an R7. I doubt you will be returning it.
