A Learning Lens?
2

I'm starting my return to photography. I'm not a beginner but I haven't purchased or used a camera in eleven years (I don't think of an iPhone as a camera and I'll happily apologize if that irritates anyone) and I sure could use some advice.

I just ordered a Canon EOS R6 II and now I need a starter lens for it.

I want it to be a budget-friendly (i.e., not too expensive) lens. Just something I can use while I'm learning to use the camera. If I'm still using it later, great, but that's not important.  It doesn't need to have anything to so with how I'll eventually use the camera, it just needs to work with that body.

So... If you just bought a camera, need to explore and try it's features and capabilities, and hadn't so much as looked at a camera in the past decade, what lens would you pick for fiddling-around before you started buying expensive glass?
