Sony A7RIII faster than Canon R5 with Canon 300/2.8LIS 10fps vs 7fps

So I have been photographing a squirrel in our backyard with my Canon R5 and EF 300/2.8LIS and was a bit disappointed by the relatively low FPS when shooting in HI+ and manual focus. It even seemed slower than what I get from my 4 year old Sony A7RIII using a Metabones EF to E mount + the Canon 300/2.8LIS.
So I decided to do a comparison test  shooting the timer screen of my Iphone and I suspect that Canon is intentionally reducing the performance on the EF lenses on the Canon R5 to get people to upgrade to RF lenses, otherwise why would the Sony top out at 10FPS and the Canon at 7? That said I don't have the Canon original adapter since it was not available when I purchased, I used the Promaster 1204 Canon RF-EF adapter. Maybe someone else has done a similar test and can verify if the Canon adapter has the same or better performance?
All tests were done at f2.8, Manual Focus, iso3200, I/1000, no IS
In the screen shot you can see the images from about 1 sec, and the spread sheet insert shows that total number of images and time shot to give a multiple sec avg FPS
