So a good quality manual lens that needs little correction is probably your best best.

Otherwise you'll need many, many different correction profiles and need to remember exactly what your setting was for each shot, to pick the right profile.

Exactly!  That’s the problem with using any lens with significant distortion.  You can still use them, but if your scene has straight lines towards the edges it can be problematic.
