New lens for my Nikon Z cameras
16

A Nippon Kogaku (Nikon by its original name Nikkor P•C 10.5cm f/2.5. Originally introduced in the mid-1950s for the Nikon S series of rangefinder cameras. The optical formulation is by a modified 5 elements (!) in 3 groups Sonnar type created by Nikon’s Zenzi Wakimoto, reputed to be Japan’s best lens designer of the era,  and originally dates back to 1949.
The construction of the lens is all metal and glass, including the lens caps and hood. I love the bayonet locking mechanism for the lens hood.  The action of focusing and stopping down is silky smooth and the focus throw from the near focus point (4 feet) to infinity is 180 degrees or slightly more.

I am looking forward to using it for portraits on my Z cameras with a Rayqual Adapter. It complements my Nikkor Z MC 105mm f/2.8 VR S and mid ‘80s vintage Nikkor 105mm /2.5 AI-S.

“If I have any advice to give, it is that a photographer should learn to work with the minimum amount of equipment. The more you are able to forget your equipment, the more time you have to concentrate on the subject and on the composition. The camera should become an extension of your eye, nothing more.”- Ernst Haas from the afterword to his monograph “The Creation” (1972
