Camera Technology Has Sure Come A Long Way!
4

My son has started expressing some interest in photography after watching me click away over a few years.  I told him he could try some of my old gear if it fit him or maybe I'd just pick him up something newer if he decided to take to it.

I brought out my wife's old Canon XSI and her T3i.  I bought the XSI around 2008 or so as a gift.  I remembered why we bought the T3i next because the XSI had a focusing issue and it wasn't even worth it to fix.  We messed with the T3i for a few and then brought out my Canon 30D.  I tried clicking off pictures inside the house of the Xmas tree, some portraits, etc.  I was amazed at how badly the cameras rendered colors despite changing white balance settings and metering settings. I tried using the built in flash and it totally overexposed the pictures making them appear so unnatural with the full front and non-controlled flash.  I tried for about 5 minutes tweaking settings to get the picture tuned into what I visually saw in front of me.  It was OK, but not great.  I went back and pulled out my Nikon D780 and in one click (no flash) the picture looked identical to what was there.  I realized how far technology had really come in 15 - 18 years.  We have been truly been spoiled as of late!
