IS the R6 MK II too much to handle?

we are coming from Sony DSLR's and the wife wasn't really happy with the Sony camera's that we had(a100,a77,a68 in general and swore she wont have another Sony camera again.

here comes the holidays again and I am dreading the day we take our Family Pictures by Christmas tree, arguing how messed up the pictures are and have to do a million re-takes.

so she thinks either the Nikon or Canon is the miracle pill come Christmas Tree portrait time. we agreed on the R6 MKII.

we mainly rely on AUTO mode on a camera for quick point and shoot results.

after ordering, i just then realized the R6 MK II does not have a built-in flash.

which brings me to this novice questions:

will the R6 MK II handle indoor portraits with just Christmas tree, living room lighting?(happy wife, happy life)

we do have a SONY HVL-F43M will this work as an external flash if needed? or do we need to look for a compatible Canon Flash or Speedlight.

i do think ill have fun with this new toy and explore new things. we just need to have the AUTO mode work for us for the Christmas holiday for my sanity

as always, my advanced thank you./
