Hi Macro, Thanks for the great explanation. Very excited to try it out. 🙂

I tried to post process the raw file from the R6 mark II with DXO photolab 6 but DXO photolab does not support the R6 Mark II yet. However, I am able to open the .cr3 file from the R6 Mark II on Topaz. Probably, I should wait for the official support of the R6 Mark II by Topaz?

I hope some of this might be helpful.

If you export a 16 bit tiff from the Canon DPP software then most of the information from the CR3 file is preserved. I suggest using DPP to set the white balance, digital lens optimizer and maybe noise reduction unless you prefer the noise reduction in other software. Increase the dynamic range in DPP. Turn off peripheral illumination and portrait lighting and auto lighting optimizer. Turn off sharpening in DPP and do that later in other software. If using a Canon lens, then maybe do lens distortion correction in DPP.

The tiff may be edited in whatever software you choose.
GraphicsMagick and ImageMagick have a very good scaling algorithm as the default and more that may be chosen on the command line. Gimp (free software) has several upscale algorithms and with the GMIC plugin it has even more.
