In his test, the center sharpness of both lenses look identical, but corner sharpness on Sigma is higher. Test body is A7Riii.

Likewise, lenstip had similar results showing that Sigma is better across the frame. Test body is A7Rii.

To me, Sigma is perhaps the better lens than Sony. The f1.8 image quality of Sony doesn't have a big advantage against that on the darker Sigma. F1.8 is for gathering more light to help reduce ISO in dark environment photography such as in astrophotography. However, Sigma has 15-24mm so it is more flexible than Sony.
