So, I got myself 40mm f2 lens, and I've noticed, that when I turn the focus ring, it have some friction sound. It's smooth, no bumps, no squeecks, just a sound of friction.

At my 16-50 it is more pronounced, at 50-250 - less.

Is it normal for the plastic Z lenses?

The ring is fly-by-wire you might be hearing the discrete steps of focusing. If so the pitch would vary with the speed of turning. And no sound off camera. I think the focusing mechanics are all metal. Nothing to worry I think.

Be careful out there. All the best.

P.S. listened to my 105, I hear friction, switched on or off.

I am still not worried, I have Z lenses right from 2018, nothing went wrong with them.
