Hello

Thx all..

Thought I would share "my" solution... not a "zoom" solution sadly but it works for me and I love it

Just bought a EF 40mm F/2.8 (this Pancake is really diminutive in size but not in IQ) as 2nd hand in a pristine condition for a very decent amount (90 Euros)

These 90 Euros are much more efficiently used than buying a brand new G1x iv, Sony RX100 viii, Ricoh GR 3 all more or less 1000 Euros !!!! for less IQ than my "old" 6d with this dirt cheap Pancake from Canon

He, the beauty of this solution.. that's cash spared towards more glass !!

Take care

Gaul

I am glad you found a substitute, I on the other hand am really considering the G1X mark ii, mainly because its probably the last of its kind. Something like a RX100 vii is way over budget for my taste.

Anyways I do think the G1X mark ii is quite a good deal in this age (if only stills are your consideration, its definitely not for video), the only downside is probably the focus and low 12.8MP count but I really don't think you can find anything this good in this price range.

The G1X mark ii goes for about $400 where I am at and for this you get a large sensor with what some people would say is a lens equivalent to Canon's L series (how accurate this description is I really don't know - just basing on the reviews) and you get it across 24-120mm equiv. And lets be real here, a lot of these professional lenses would cost more on its own compared to the G1X mark ii (which is a complete set up).

And lastly what I like about it is the compactness, I don't think I am an "ILC" guy. So until the Canon G1x mark iii comes down in price, the mark ii is a solid substitute (just for stills).
