Nikon Z6 II w/Tamron SP 70-200 f/2.8 G2 Issues

I am using (or trying to use) my Tamron 70-200 G2 with my Z6 II and have run into an issue. The autofocus isn't as snappy as it is when I use it with my D500. Could this possibly be because it is having to communicate through the FTZ adapter? Would the autofocus be better with the Nikkor Z 70-200?

I guess it would be good to mention that this same thing happens with my F-mount 300 f/2.8 as well.

The autofocus is still great but I have missed several good shots because of this.
