Thank you for the advice -
Yes - photography has been a life-long passion for me, but I do now want to travel lighter, and since the iphone is with me for all purposes, it will do a great job.
I am thinking of taking along a small PS as well, just in case......
Now at the young (old) age of 70+, traveling light is a must for me.
Like Cyril is an iphone and a long zoom compact, in my case a Pan TZ70.
Small, light, easy to carry 👍
I won’t hold your youth or lack of experience against you.
Mike, I like the eclectic diversity of your 49 most recent photos. Something like the variety I seem to end up with.
But as a child of the frugal Depression years, I learnt to make do with minimal resources. Travelling a lot as a youngster, photography was simply a help with memories of places and people, and cast-off cameras from older friends and relatives were my initial means.
But photography was never more than a hobby for me. My work interests were elsewhere. So it was years before I built my own dark room: only to have it commandeered by an enthusiastic teenage daughter, who made celebrity and fashion photography a career in Australia, then worldwide.
Good for her! I hope to see her work online.
Photography has been woven into my life since boyhood. Many of the portraits in my gallery are of cast members of various plays for lobby displays and public relations releases. Others are for other exhibits or customers or personal use. A couple are popular posters in places (oddly) - a Prague auto rental uses one which has become quite popular.
I never know what others like/hate. It’s probably wise to follow good guidelines about exposure, focus and composition and let someone else worry about esthetics.
