XF 23mm f1.4 R, or There and here again
4

Hi,

The first lems that I bought for my X-T3 (after the 16-80 that came in the kit) was a second hand 23mm f1.4 R.

It served me well (specialy paired with my 56mm f1.2) for over a year until GAS affected me and I sucumbed to the lure of the new lenses. I sold it and I got the new 18mm f1.4 and 33mm f1.4 thinking they were a perfect duo kit to walk around.

But I was wrong. I love the 33mm f1.4 and have taken great pictures with it, but never get fond of the 18mm f1.4. The focal length is just not for me (at least in a prime). If I had the 18mm + 33mm I ended using the 33mm almost exclusively. I used the 18mm very little and when I did I cropped most of the time.

So, I sold my 18mm and just received a brand new 23mm f1.4R (the old one) that I brought for 500€ (a bargain, if you ask me). I prefer the 23mm + 56mm combination if I take 2 primes or the 33mm if I take only one.

I could have gotten the new 23mm, but I prefered the smaller old one. The AF was good enough for me when I had it and the IQ is stellar.

What aI learned about all of this? Don't give a s**t about IQ about a lens if the focal length is not for you.
