X-E4 lack of controls. What does is mean?

I am very tempted to buy the X-E4 for street photography.
I like its size, how it feels (handled it at B&H Photo in NY), the flipping screen and being able to change lenses unlike X-100V.

But often I see comments about "lack of controls" on this camera.
Can someone please explain what exactly this means?
Are the controls hidden deep inside menus (hard to reach), or they just do not exist?

I usually shoot "from the hip" while walking the streets in strange places around the world.
Prefer to use Shutter Priority setting and have fast autofocus.

The latest review of Fuji AF here on DPR is not exactly encouraging: https://www.dpreview.com/videos/8202745946/dpreview-tv-the-good-and-bad-of-fujifilm-cameras

Any comments?
Thanks in advance.
