XT5 first shots
XT5 first shots

I was able to get down to the creek this afternoon for my first "real" shots with the XT5. I was mainly wanting to test the autofocus with some BIF. Definitely more hits than the XT3, although I'm not a birder and I'm years away from being good at this. But I could definitely tell a difference. 3x3 zone with various custom autofocus settings.
It tracked well as long as there was a uniform background with high contrast. When the birds flew in front of the trees, the hit rate dropped down quite a bit.

I wanted to keep the shutter speed high, so the ISO was around 2500 as the sun was setting. I didn't remove the noise. I'm actually OK with it.
I was pleased to see that even the detail of the trees way up on the ridgeline were preserved.
