Birding with Fuji - Topaz DeNoise AI on high ISO images
15

Hello, here are some comparison images shot with my X-T3, XF100-400mm and 1.4x teleconverter, early morning: straight imports into LR, saved as jpegs (some brightness adjustments and such, but dropped sharpening and all that), versus the same then run through Topaz DeNoise AI, plus some of my preferred editing in LR. I have just this evening purchased the application and I am beyond shocked at what it can do. I was out yesterday morning to shoot some local birds not long after sunrise. My location was in shade for the duration, pushing my ISO up to 6400 in some cases, whilst the sun was shining on high branches and all that. I downloaded the free, watermarked version of DeNoise and was so impressed with what it did to one of the images I went straight in for the buy. It's wizardry is what it is. So here they are, the comparison shots for anyone in murky places like Wales, UK. I hope they give you pause for thought. I just hope the compression here does the differences justice.

Dunnock, ISO6400, f8, 1/320, -0.33EV

Same, run through Topaz DeNoise, some slight editing in LR

Dunnock again, ISO5000, f8, 1/320, -0.33EV

Run through Topz DeNoise and selected editing in LR

Singing Robin, ISO4000, f7.8, 1/250, -0.33EV

Again run through Topaz, etc.

Goldcrest, heavy crop too - ISO5000, f8, 1/320, -0.33EV

Surprised how this cleaned up really.

Fujifilm X-T3
