I recently bought a Samyang RF 85mm f/1.4 AF lens in a second-hand website.

It works find on my R5 for both AF & IS.

But I found a strange phenomenon: when turning my R5 power on, the lens will make a "click" sound every time.

After checking the lens, I found this sound is made because the lens aperture bldes open to the largest aperture when the camera is turned on.

I wonder if this is normal because I haven't found the similar sound from any Canon lenses.

If I remember it well, for Canon lenses wide open is the default mode when dismounted from the camera. For this Samyang the default mode is apparently, and because Canon focuses wide open the camera needs to open up the aperture blades.  It sounds a bit clunky, but my lens sounds exactly as you describe here.

My problem with the lens is a bit of front focusing (eye/face tracking + continuous AF turned on, with using back button AF when needed to make the camera pay some extra attention). How is yours in that regard?

45 is more than enough, but 500.000 isn't
