I'm a Fuji apsc user considering of adding a full frame mirrorless to my collection. My budget has come down to 2 options, Sony a7iii or the Canon Eos R.
My priority is the nice skin tones, that's why I don't mind Canon lower DR sensor compared to Sony cameras. But I really like the Sigma 85 f1.4 DG DN lens available for the E mount.
And I will try to avoid adapting dslr lens on the R, which just adds bulk and weight. As for Sony, it's yellowish skintones was a nightmare to me before.

The Sony A7III has it's skintones improved. At the same time the R isn't as great as previous cameras when it comes to skintones. The RP does a better job here, and even the M50.

I won't bet on this. My sister in law who know absolutely nothing about camera says that the A7iii jpeg makes her skin looks like she' was sick. OTOH, the XT3 render her skin tones much nicer. That reminds me of the horrible yellowish skintones I got from the a6000 (which was worse than the olympus jpeg skintone) few years ago, which was the main factor that drove me from Sony to fuji. Unless, they released a firmware update after that which I'm not aware of.

No, no firmware updates. If you know you don't like the A7III  you don't need any extra information.

The R isn't the best Canon camera for skin tones either, that's all I can tell you.

I'll try my best not to return to Sony.
My problem will be solved only if canon allow sigma to build lens for the R mount, then i will jump on the RF system the first thing if that happens.

I wouldn't wait for this.

I totally agree.

I'm accepting heavy adapted Sigma EF glass.

As for now, I guess I will just stick to fuji.

You could consider the RP + ND filter for your lens to make up for it's lack of a full mechanical shutter. For DR the RP is another step down though.

I've been considering the RP before. The DR issue you've mentioned is exactly the reason why I'm holding back from it despite it's decent price. To accept a full frame that has a lower DR than it's APSC (80d) counterpart, it's really hard for me to shallow.

You'll have to step up to R6 in that case. And accept an adapted EF 85mm f/1.4. Some sacrifices should be made to get those skin tones....

If that's the case, I rather stick to my XT3 that has Sony sensor, which by default should has better DR than Canon apsc around the same generation.
On top of that, the RP look ugly from the front view. I guess I was spoilt with looks of the fujis.

You're the photographer, not the subject.
