Just testing a 55-250mm IS II lens and found at 55mm it worked okay, but at 250mm on distant shots the centre was in focus (although not as sharp as I have seen on other 55-250mm IS lenses) and the area away from the centre was blurry.

I decided to pull apart the lens and found that the aperture assembly was slightly off centre, looks like it was either happened at assembly or the lens has been dropped and the shock moved the aperture assembly.

You can get to the aperture assembly by removing the front lens, then carefully pry off the black plastic covering the aperture assembly screws. When I loosened the 3 screws, the aperture assembly moved back to centre. Reassembled after cleaning the front lens and now the photos are as they should be.

Wow, impressive - resurrecting a thread after nearly 14 years

The person you replied to (the OP) has not posted on DPR since 2010 so you may not get a response.
