this thread has inspired me to play with some basic bilinear downscaling by 25% in photoshop. the colors i’m able to define with this technique are an order of magnitude deeper than anything i’ve been able to eek out of a full size nikon z6ii raw file! for one, yellow isn’t all mixed up with green anymore! every slider in lightroom feels more powerful while also being easier to use. i’m very impressed by the 4x6 canon selphy prints i’ve made with these tiny little files.

i’ve also been shooting with my iphone 14 pro’s quad bayer in raw…the pictures feel almost infinitely scalable like what i’ve seen from many foveon files, and they are similarly easier to adjust than any previous pictures i’ve edited!
