for your 21mm lens

Hello Adam Rich

Thank you everyone for your suggestions. I ended up ordering the k70 kit and a Pentax HD Pentax DA 21mm f/3.2 AL Limited Lens to use as my walk about lens in NYC next week.

I wish you much fun with your trip to NYC

Now I don't know you and maybe my next point is something you know since ages, but I don't mind that my post is than absolute overdone and useless.

For the case that this focal length is new to you:

This focal length is ca. the same I use with my old FA 31mm on my K1.

When you look a little up or down with your camera with this lens, the vertical lines start to 'topple'. Therefore it is sometimes better that you find an other level and keep the camera even instead that you keep your level and let look your camera up or down.

You can correct of cause this 'topple' vertical lines in post, but you always lost something from your scene:

original:

the vertical lines are 'topple' ( I had to look up with my camera and could not change my level)

in LR I get the lines straight, but do lost my foreground a little bit:

In Photoshop (Elements) I can keep the foreground, but the chapel get a little an other dimension look, 'a little compressed ' . I could now stretch it to the top, but than I get an other picture format or, when I keep the format, I lost something from the top

Therefore: when you must look up or down and you will correct the lines later, try to have at the boarders more of the scene as you would need for your picture, so that it doesn't matter that this get later thrown out do to a line correction.

best regards KPM2
