I have been pondering of getting the Canon M6 Mark II camera. I have the Canon T2i camera.
The M6II is a great camera if you can live with two of its biggest shortcomings: no weather-sealing & no IBIS. Personally I think it is a great engineering compromise, because of the reduced size which I value more in this body than extra features.
I know Canon M6 Mark II camera has been discontinued. I wonder if I should get the camera or not. I saw some good deals that I could not ignore.
The M6II feels like a Canon pro camera crammed into the tiniest package possible while still maintaining the distinct Canon feel. You already know that you are buying into a potentially dead system, but the benefit is that you exactly know what you get. If there will be future lens & camera releases, it will be rather minor ones. The only risks I see are the official repairability in the distant future and the dependency on the second-hand market if you like to buy new (in the worst case when your body should get damaged).
I do not want to feed any GAS, but if I could get a good deal, I would just get a second body without any hesitation. The only reason I will not buy a second EF-M body is that I got already more than enough (but without a second EF-M body when my M6II would break I would have to get rid of all EF-M lenses, and some of them are pretty decent).
+1 Really good characterization ‘Squad. An incredible amount of capability in such a compact package. And fun as heck to shoot too!
