Thank you everyone for the helpful tips! I think it's definitely lighting..more than anything. Does anyone have any suggestions for lighting options when using Canon f2.8 MACRO that can be mounted to the camera? I take photos of anatomy and surgeries and in the cavities that are dark (throat, nose, mouth etc). Is ring flash appropriate or something like that more static light that can be mounted to the camera? Thank you again.

Throat, nose and mouth cavities might also be imaged with the EF-M 28mm macro which is tiny and has built in LED lighting, but it needs it as you might have to fit the lens within the mouth to focus on the back teeth. The recently discontinued EF-S 35mm macro has built in lighting and slightly more working space, but a larger front element. There are cheap LED ringlights that mount onto the filter thread of the lens, e.g. https://www.amazon.co.uk/PROfoto-Trend-JJC-LED-Dimmable-Mirrorless/dp/B0727Z9VTQ/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=1OI8JTHKXLUQB&keywords=led+macro+ring+light&qid=1668463026&s=electronics&sprefix=led+macro+ring+light%2Celectronics%2C108&sr=1-3 or https://www.amazon.co.uk/YONGNUO-Macro-Flash-YN-14EX-Camera/dp/B00G3CEYM4/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?crid=1OI8JTHKXLUQB&keywords=led+macro+ring+light&qid=1668463026&s=electronics&sprefix=led+macro+ring+light%2Celectronics%2C108&sr=1-4 and these all give continuous light to focus by.

Yes that's the ring light you need for Macro shot on your EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro.
