I'm likely upgrading from X-T3 (latest firmware) to X-T5. Currently, both SD cards are configured for RAW (slot 1) + JPEG (slot 2).
If I were to take my existing two SD cards - there's already 105FUJI and (oddly) 109FUJI folders with hundreds of photos between them - and put them in the newer body, will the X-T5 know that it should continue the existing sequence inside the 109FUJI folder?
Will it even attempt to review the older X-T3 photos? And, in the unlikely/accidental event that I put the two cards back to the X-T3, will it attempt to review the X-T5 photos?
I don't have that specific combination of cameras but here is what I think will happen.
You should be able to review the X-T3 images on the X-T5 - it will mark them with a little present icon and you won't be able to process raws in camera.
If you take more photos with the X-T5 it will create a new folder (in sequence) and start the count at 1 within the new folder.
If you then switch the cards back to the X-T3 you should be able to review images from both cameras (but only reprocess images from the X-T3)
Thanks for the answer!
Yeah, I regularly copy my photos to my PC and backup those too, so if anything, the photos on the SD cards are backups-of-backups...
I'm more interested in preserving the sequence of the photos moving from the X-T3 to the X-T5, so I might just resort to using "Edit File Name" on the new body to be DSCF5 or something...
