As much as I love my Fujifilm cameras and lenses, the Camera Remote app is horrible in both iOS and Android. I have always wondered how Fujifilm can be such a success with their cameras, lenses and in-camera software, yet fail so miserably with the app, and for how many years now?

Well, perhaps many (most???) people don’t really need or have a use for it. If that’s the case (as it is with me anyway), it’s a big “don’t care” and not a major factor in a camera purchase decision. Admittedly, this is strictly a guess on my part and I have no data to back that assumption.

The only use I have for the App is time and location synch between the camera and iPhone.  It’s a nice feature but not having it would not be a factor in buying a camera or not. That only requires Bluetooth.  Recent Fuji cameras have low power Bluetooth support which makes the communications more reliable.   The other feature of the app is the ability to track F/W and make F/W updates. But again I could live without it.

The Leica Fotos app is much better than Fuji’s all around. I’ve even taken a few shot with my Leica on the tripod using the remote on my phone.  But for the price difference, I expect the Leica would work well.  I would much rather Fuji spend their R&D on improving the HW and camera performance.
