Mirror lenses inherently suck for photography. They were bad 50 years ago and are just as bad today. New focal lengths in new mounts won't erase any of the shortcomings. It is actually embarrassing to see a company like Tokina release these things.

I'll admit my experience is limited, but I'd broadly agree. I got serious about photography 10 years ago, and when I first saw these things I thought "wow"! A long-reach, compact, and cheap lens!! Problem is the ones I tried were rubbish. You can't change the laws of physics.

I don't even have any experience with these lenses but my gut instinct tells me something like a Panasonic TZ95 is better than one of these lenses.

Having said that I'm not trying to discredit Tokina, instead I'm proud they have these lenses. I might decide to buy one, one day. I'm all about options.

But I bought my second TZ95 yesterday for $300, two batteries, a pounch and 2 year warranty. Max focal length is 720mm optical. Has 5-axis IS and auto focus. Really a dream come true for those that want "reach".
