I think I know what is going on.   I dont have the X-E2, but in some cameras you have the option to manage Shutter speed with one of the wheels when you put it on A (aslo called Command setting) , rather than being really in  Auto. Is a setting in the Menu

In the screen I can see that the shutter speed is in blue, with the 1/2 wheel on top, this indicates that you are not really on auto speed, but it is in Command, and you have to control the shutter speed with the back wheel.

I think is in wrench 2, button/dial settings, to change the option to Auto
