I have a film era appreciation for Tokina Hoya Kenko THK

on Kodachrome 200 I thought a major brand 500 mirror lens was great for daylight nature even panning birds when light did not allow faster shutter speeds That films grain and contrast were helping a lot it turns out

The THK long lens I’d suggest for an M camera is the 100 gram Kenko 1.4x HD Teleconverter for EF and EF-S combined with the 380 gram EF-S 55-250 This combo has AF and IS. Add the EF to M adapter and it’s still a fairly lightweight and compact 350mm that zooms back to 80mm with variable aperture. For telephoto subject isolation the bokeh looks nice too. Granted it’s my first week with the new Teleconverter but so far my perched bird or longer range semi macro needs are well met

With a tripod maybe the longer than 400mm options fill a niche?

Yes, it makes sense.

But Kenko has like 4 different models or names for this 1.4x extender.

I wonder if some are fake ones.

How did you manage to select the correct model ?
