I have seen debates about X-H2 PASM vs X-T5 dials but is the debate really about X-H2 has seven custom settings on the PSAM dial while X-T5 does not have easily accessible customer settings? If I set the X-T5 as follows, it will mimic PASM

- P: Set shutter speed dial to A and aperture on lens to A

- A: Set shutter speed dial to A and adjust aperture on lens

- S: Set shutter speed dial to T and aperture on lens to A

- M: Set shutter speed dial to T and adjust aperture on lens

I agree rotating the PASM on the X-H2 may be a touch faster than turning the dials on X-T5.

I personally found rotating the front/rear command dials on the X-H2 to be slightly easier for me than on my ancient X-T4. X-H2's EVF also made it slightly easier to pickup current settings as I flick those command dials.

I mostly shoot photos only and shutter priority for kids sports. I have an X-T2 and leaning towards an X-T5. Am I missing something else on the ergonomics other than the seven custom settings?

From this statement alone, I would go with the X-T5.

I personally would prefer the basic dials and switch collars of the X-T2 and the X-T5. I do wish Fujifilm went back to the photometry switch collar instead of a stills/video switch.

For me, it is very tough to develop any sort of muscle memory as to what I would set each of the seven custom settings on the X-H2 PASM dial. I think if I ever did get serious in using AF-C focusing, I will probably figure out my favorite AF settings and assign them to the custom settings on the PASM dial.

Ergonomically, I do like how the larger X-H2 fits in my hand and how nice tripping its shutter feels. If I went with the X-T5 I would probably buy the acra-swiss compatible plate with a larger finger grip for times I am handling larger lenses.

I would likely go with X-T5 but I am not sure what else I am missing from the X-H2 since I have not used X-H series. That's the reason for my question.

Things I prefer on the X-T series are: 3-way tilt screen, 2x SD cards, and I am familiar with X-T layout.

For me, the X-H2 is all about how much you like using the front/rear command dials and quickly looking at the top screen to see what your common settings are.

The X-H2 does feel a bit bigger in your hands and takes up more room in your camera bag.

The flip-out screen is a pain to get used to coming from a 3-way tilt.  In the end, I try to avoid folding the screen out as I spend a few extra seconds adjusting that external screen.

CFExpress slot definitely does eat up a lot of budget.  I only bought a single 165GB card so far so that I can try out all of the high-bandwidth features some day.  To be honest, I bought a lot of V60 SD cards as I don't do much video or burst mode shooting.  There are "cheaper" slower CFexpress cards out there as well.

Things I think I would like on the X-H series are: larger grip and custom setting. I can buy an aftermarket grip for the X-T5. WIth the X-T2, I do find myself switching from AF-C to AF-S, and from zone to single point AF during the game. May be I can just use AF-C and face/eye tracking and don't need custom setting for different AF modes now the AF has improved on X-T5.

The AF mode switch on the X-T series is one that I accidentally hit when pulling my camera out of the bag a lot.   I had to train myself always to verify the AF mode setting.

I have not had the chance to play with AF-C on the X-H2 yet.  I imagine you still need to tweak a few of the AF-C auto-focus settings.
