The Moon with EF-S 55-250 IS STM and 2 stacked teleconverters
3

I wanted to see the 'best' I could do taking an image of the Moon with only a telephoto lens, not a telescope.

Last night I shot 40 images of the Moon using the Canon M6 Mark II with the Canon EF-S 55-250mm IS STM, and a Kenko 1.5x SHQ teleconverter stacked with a Kiron MC7 2x teleconverter for an end result of a 750mm f16 lens. I used a tripod but no tracking mount.

I processed the RAW images with DxO Photolab 5, then used PIPP software to crop and align them, stacked the best 24 frames using AutoStakkert, then used wavelets in Registax software to sharpen (deconvolute) the final image. Final processing in DxO Photolab.

The final result is much better than any single frame, but not as good as an image from a larger aperture telescope with more resolving power. (See my previous lunar images).

Moon on 11/3/2022. Canon M6ii, Canon EF-S 55-250mm IS STM, Canon EF - EOS M adapter, Kenko 1.5x SHQ teleconverter stacked with Kiron 2x MC7 teleconverter, 750mm, f16, 1/50s, ISO 100, 24 frames processed with DxO Photolab, stacked with Autostakkert, wavelet processing in Registax,
