Just updated a few hours ago, and I swear it's giving much better results than before. Especially in its handling of severe noise (and it seems less likely to over-sharpen now). Or is this just the wine and my imagination?
I also noted when it updated yesterday that it provided me noise reduction AND sharpening that was a huge move forward. The closest yet to their individual programs. Very pleasing sharpening was available for the first time. They are headed in the right direction finally.
Can you elaborate. I'm looking at 1.08 and I don't see much difference. I still see user controls for both.
I just updated to the new 1.08 10 minutes ago. And I took a challenging shot of mega detail in rocks and foliage that was a crop of the HHHR shot taken with my OM-1. It needed to be cropped or I saw some funny artifacts. Well, it sure did shock me when I took it into the new version, I added a "low resolution" check mark and also made sure it would sharpen as well (it chose noise reduction only which it tends to do unless you check sharpen as well). I figured what the heck, go over the edge. I upped the size of the image to about a 75% increase. At first, I thought, as I waited for it to process it would come out kind of nasty or disappointing. But finally, after it got there and voila! The image appeared enlarged, sharpened and after careful examination had NO artifacts to boot. This is quite shocking as I never expected this to be the outcome. I'm really looking forward to playing with this new version some more. If this result could continue with a number of other shots I'd like to improve upon, it could sure shake up what I have to work with. So far count me impressed!
Amazing and good to hear. Did you open your raw file directly in Photo AI, or?
