Hi all,
I have become a happy owner of a used Fujifilm XT-3 camera that I like very much, however I am not certain I can get enough shots from a single charge of the battery.
For example, I got only about 100 shots from a full charge though I spent a while trying to set up the camera and getting used to it. I think it's getting better now
I have read many articles on tips and tricks that could save some battery charge, they are quite obvious, and I know that the number of shots depends a lot on the shooting style.
I was wondering what would be the best way to test the battery/camera power performance.
Unfortunately, I couldn't find a way to test the actual capacity of the battery which is sometimes available in cameras from other manufacturers.
Any ideas? Many thanks in advance.
The key thing to consider is screen-time - the main source of battery drain. How many shots you take actually has very little to do with how long the battery lasts. if I'm being careful about screen-time ...usually EVF only w/eye detect, no auto image review/minimal chimping, and shutting the camera off when I'm not actively shooting), I usually average 500-600 shots per battery with my X-T2 (which I think is actually worse than the X-T3), and well over 1000 shots per battery when shooting lots of bursts. Playing with settings while looking at the menus will kill the battery in no time. I always have Boost mode on - well worth a little extra battery drain, IMO.
Just turning off any unnecessary bluetooth/wifi, and flipping the camera on only when you're actually shooting (my AUTO POWER OFF is set for 2 min. if I forget) will go a long way towards extending battery life.
