I don't know ! Should I get a refurbished M6II for $549 or wait for the price to go lower on black Friday ?

Best M camera deal ever !

Waiting "might" be a bit of a gamble.

Knowing the M series may be close to end of life I made a conscious decision to stay with the M system for awhile longer and ordered a new M6II kit (including the viewfinder) several weekss ago during an Amazon flash sale. For my needs the M6II has exceeded my expectations so I ordered a refurb for $549 and it should arrive tomorrow. Before ordering I checked other sources for prices/availability and found the M6II either unavailable or back-ordered.

If there are any left when the Black Friday sales begin I'm guessing that any additional savings may not be worth the gamble, especially if you're certain you want one.

I've bought almost all of my M equipment during "fire" sales, Black Friday sales, etc. and haven't spent anywhere near the amount of money that my full frame & several L lenses cost me. For travel, family photos, etc. the M kit is perfect and, while my iPhone is no slouch, the M pics are almost always much better - and with good light the pics frequently rival my full frame/L lenses.

Final thought - getting a refurb before they do run out affords the opportunity to carefully check it out and exchange it in the event there are any problems. I've never had a problem buying refurbs directly from Canon, but I suppose it's possible.

I agree with this post. The m6ii at $549 is already a fire sale and the lowest it has ever been. I'd be worried that they will go out of stock quicky. Refurbs go out of stock frequently.

I've read of issues with the camera's internal circuit board battery dying, which means the camera forgets all its settings when you take the removable battery out, and that people with this issues were told by Canon it's not repairable, the battery was not meant to be replaced.  So in time this may be the issue that does this camera in for each of us, before we've shot 150,000 frames or whatever.

For that reason I make sure to always keep a charged battery in the camera, and never leave no battery in the camera except for the moment I am changing the battery.

So buying a refurb you have the best chance of getting a fairly 'new' camera that still has the best internal battery charge. Buying one used from someone who didn't keep a charged battery in the camera for the 'years' they may have owned it could be a problem.

This is just my 2 cents, if anyone else has thoughts on the internal battery issue, please share them.
