I would go with AF-S single point for the best results, increasing the box size in low r flat light will help. Make sure the camera is in Boost mode.

Thank you. I didn’t realise increase the box size would help focus speed but it makes sense.

It can make a very significant difference, the more image detail the AF is allowed to contemplate, the better - especially important in low or flat light where there is less contrast to work with. Always try to position the AF box on an area with good contrast, if the desired focus point is lacking in contrast, try to find somewhere else with better contrast on the same plane to use instead.
