Re: Mini-challenge #597: An apology

It's been several days past the end of the challenge and I have not done anything with it. In addition, I seem to have picked a particularly poor topic since, with one exception, there have only been exhibits.
If Ed B would like to run the next challenge, it's his.
(I'm still trying to figure out how to put my life back together after the death of my wife in a traffic accident and don't seem to be able to run an effective challenge - so I just can't try to run another challenge right now.)
Oh, I'm not even a Canon camera owner, and the main reason I originally responded to your thread was because I thought you did a great job picking the category.
I'm so, so very sorry about your wife and pray that you'll be okay. A photo challenge or photography, in general, pales in comparison to what you must be feeling.
What surprised me about your challenge is the fact that it was one of the most sensible challenges I've seen, on these forums. Taking a picture of something around the house can be done by anyone and, because you picked such a good subject, I would have expected many people to contribute images.
Back in the film days and when I first "switched" to digital photography, I used Canon cameras, almost exclusively. My first digital DSLR was a brand-new Canon 10D because I already had several Canon lenses.
I also had a few Canon compact cameras, over the years, and used to post quite a bit in this forum, but that's been a while ago, and now I only look at the form occasionally, and don't usually respond to comments.
Just the same, when I saw your challenge, I was impressed and decided to post a picture.
As I said, I'm only surprised more people didn't join the challenge and wonder why? I remember a time when a challenge like yours would have had many, many, contributions.
