glare or highlights on black beetle - poor diffuser ?

I have tried that, but the light loss is considerable as the inverse law come more into effect as the light is even further from the subject, together with the loss from the second diffuser.I don't want to use 1/4 power or even 1/8 as a little too much daylight intrudes, so with moving subjects you can get double images.

This was at 1/4 power as I was some distance away. The wings look good, but the features are not as sharp as they should be could be or the focus is off a tiny bit. This was only x.5.

This is how I use it, the head can be very close, not generally as close as this, except for x2 or x3 (just about) I rarely go beyond x2

It can move around the subject to some degree and is not too front heavy.

I used to have a different arrangement with a second arm that could either have a LED light or a reflector, but that just got in the way and was really front heavy.
