How to test a lens like the 16-55?

I bought the 16-55 used years ago and have generally been happy with it.  Sometimes I think it could be sharper but that could be a slight AF miss on my X-T2 or X-H1 or an operator error.

I am contemplating an upgrade to one of the X-H2 bodies (S or regular) and want to ensure that my 16-55 is in top shape.  I could send it in and have Fuji do a clean, adjust (and presumably a lubrication too) of it, but that would cost a few hundred dollars and maybe it's needless as the lens is in good shape.

Is there a simple or easy-to-do test that I can perform on my 16-55 to verify its condition?  If so, please let me know how.

Ideally, it'd be a test I could use on my other lenses.  I have the 50-140 also and also some primes.
