R6+100-500 or R7+100-400, Consideration
1

This question is hypothetical at the moment, but come tax season it may become far more real.

I currently have an R6 with the 24-240mm and love it, it's my do everything setup and it works perfect for me. The only thing I would like is some more reach for Wildlife etc. I also hate changing lenses when out and about (hence my 24-240).

I considered the RF100-400 and will likely end up buying it, but I should be getting a sizeable return so the RF100-500 is an option, and it's obviously a great lens, but the price is a bit rough for my level of use.

My other thought was an R7 (maybe refurbished by tax season?) With the RF100-400 instead. Not quite as good glass, but there are merits I'd like to consider. Slightly longer reach, cheaper than the L glass, no lens changes necessary, and higher pixel density on target. Also when I upgraded to my R6 I gifted my RP to my girlfriend who really doesn't use it, but I don't want to sell it from under her. If I went the R7 route, I would sell the RP to help fund the R7, and she keeps a camera available to her when she would like to join me.

Tack sharp photos are not my primary goal, more important to me is catching the moment.
