I recall little about the driver situation with Win7.

As the laptop has drivers available for Windows 10, maybe that would have been a better choice. (???)

Absolutely. But i'm used to W7 and when i "upgrade" i'il go straight to W11.

I believe the situation was this, 6th gen intel wasn't supposed to be compatible with W7 at all but Lenovo has released the drivers needed to make W7 work on these machines(T560, T460 etc).

I don't think i can do this with the T470, so the T460 series will be the last one that can run the ooold Windows 7 OS.

I also have an L560 that runs W7 OK, there are some driver incompatibility issues still even if I use Lenovo system update to install them. I had to use system restore a few times.

I have tested W11 on the L560 and it runs fine but not perfect, some drivers need to be installed manually so that's that.

That's the risk of using abandonware i guess :)))
