Currently, an upgrade from M6 to M6ii and maybe the fast focusing EF 70-300 nano USM lens is in my sights. I can use it on both systems.

This sounds like a pretty good solution. You gain capability in both areas.

18-960mm equivalent FL range Three Zoom kit for my M:
11-22
18-150
70-300 + EF-EFM adapter + 2X TC

24-600 FL range Two zoom kit for my R:
24-105 L
70-300 + EF-RF adapter + 2X TC

Did you find a way to use a TC on the 70-300? My understanding has been it won't work.

It won't work with Canon TCs, due to the protruding TC lens element. But it will work with some 3rd party TCs. I just hope Canon haven't done any firmware jiggery pokery to scotch that plan on my EOS R. Should be fine with the M series though.

I'll report back After the Canon EF 70-300mm F/4-5.6 IS II USM I ordered to day arrives.

Will be great if you can find a quality TC that will work for that lens. I have owned that 70-300 for a while with my M50 & M6MKii. Excellent lens, although a bit large and heavy for an M camera. And with a TC it will not be great in low light. Please keep us updated.
