I owned the M3 for a year until I upgraded to a M5. The AF on the M3 was quite poor - not really mis-focusing (in my experience), but very slow and tended to hunt with some EF lenses.

The M5 in contrast has been a LOT better. Still not as fast a DSLR (70D or 6D ii), and especially so in lower light, but my M5 (can't speak for any others) has been pretty good in decent light - never enough to "bother" me to the point of looking for another camera.

I only remember seeing threads talking about how "poor" the M5/M6 AF after the newer models (M50 & M6 ii) appeared, so I guess it is perhaps a little bit relative ?

The duck was simply an example of a shot taken with the same model camera & lens that was reasonably static, somewhat detailed and IMO fairly sharp, and at settings (aperture, shutter speed, focal length etc) similar to the OP's statue, so they should be somewhat comparable.

Not suggesting for a moment that it is a great shot, but vastly sharper than the OP's, so it suggests that there possibly isn't a generic issue with either the EF-M 18-150mm or the M5, so perhaps a more isolated issue with either the OP's camera or lens (or both) ?
