Your Boats!!! lets see em!!

I can't take credit for this photo nor was I on the boat at the time (I couldn't make it this weekend :( ). This is the boat I crew for leaving harbor in Michigan City, IN for a race over the Labor Day weekend. This was shot in 1989.

I have sailed in similar, and worse, conditions than this. NOW this is when sailing is REALLY FUN.

This copy of the photo is not the best, but it certainly captured the moment.

please excuse the quality, these are holiday snaps in Mencora and I was trying to make my MS last as long as possible.

Considering that this was on full + digital zoom I really like this shot w/ the waves on the rocks in the foreground. This is one of the few times I had something better than a P1.

Then the next day we just happened to be in port and found the ship moored - turns out it's a cruise ship for really rich people to go 'sailing' for a week around the Med.

cheers,
A

Wow... nice pics! I, too, am a sailor, but the Chesapeake Bay is my cruising area. Took a vacation last May in the Virgin Islands -- my friends and I chartered a 45' sailboat for 8 days. It was wonderful! Your photos evoke in me a desire to go sailing again soon!
Here are several shots from this years Chicago to Mackinac Yacht
Race. This is one of the world's oldest and longest fresh water
yacht races. These first three are the same type of boat I crew on.

These are others boats a few hours after the start.

Here is one of the sister ships that I race out practising.

Here is a different view of the boat.

And one of my all time favorites, a gorgeous sunset from this
year's Mac race:

Thanks Rick. I know what you mean. The season just ended here in Chicago so I won't be sailing for a while. I will be going through withdraw for the next several months.

I have sailed the Leeward Islands in the Carribean. I would LOVE to there right. A friend of mine organized a trip and needed another captain, so they brought me down. We ended up with 14 people, 8 on a 50' my friend captained and 6 on a 46' that I had. It was a fun trip. Now if I could only figure out how to make decent living sailing down there. :)
