Is there a logic to Canon's G series numbering

G1,2,3,5,6,7,9,10,11,12,15,16 . there wasn`t a G8 - it was named the Pro-1 and the Japanese don`t like the number 4 so there wasn`t a G4 either , no idea why no G13 (13 is a western thing) or G14

Then they made the larger sensor G with an X on the end and they were numbered like DSLRs where the lower number represents a superior model such as the 1D series being better than the 5D , 7D etc so we have

G1X , G3X, G5X, G7X, G9X - Like the Single digit DSLRs, these gain Mk2, Mk3 etc as they get newer
