Best value F-mount lenses to get for Z mount

Many used F lenses are ridiculously good values

Many people are selling their perfectly good lightly used F-mount lenses at throw away prices for better quality / nirvana of the Z mount  S line lenses. Yes - the S line lenses are good and better than the corresponding F-mount lenses but when you consider that you can get many steals on craigslist or ebay, you may want to check them out at least. Example - I got an almost new Nikon AF-S 70-200mm f/4G for $500 earlier in the year. Similarly the Nikon AF-S 80-400mm G can be had for less than a thousand. Then there is the 70-200mm f/2.8E FL VR which is among the newest F-mount lenses. While the 70-200 f/2.8 S is better, if you can get a good used copy of the FL lens, it will be one F lens which will almost go toe to toe with the S equivalent. Also currently the 70-300 AF-P is the only 70-300 choice to use via FTZ (other than the newly released Tamron 70-300).

What lenses would you recommend as an alternative to Z-mount lenses if you are looking to optimize cost vs performance. Aside from the speciality lenses like the 500mm ect.
